"High altitude wines"

Salta Wine Trail is the denomination that receives the tourist-thematic circuit of approximately 520 km (323 miles) that surrounds the Calchaquí Valleys. Cafayate is the center of this circuit, which concentrates many of the most recognized wineries in the region. The emblematic grapevine of Salta is the "Torrontés".

Main grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Tannat.

Salta's viticulture is strongly marked by the presence of high altitude vineyards: the cultivated area begins at 1.530 meters (1673.22 yards) and reaches 3,111 meters high (3402.23 yards) in Payogasta (department of Cachi).
